O5 - John Virando Dougal

This is a JV Dougal pomander. If you look closely you can see the gauze poked into the dog then filled and plugged. It has an unusual base but I don't reproduce these images here. It is marked. I assume it was made by John after he left Briglin. Which would date it to the 80's ? Is this correct?

He looks a bit glum?
