P3 Large Stoneware Glass Dish

These are made by Briglin, but from stoneware and with a colourful glass lining. AA does not mention them in her book. Anne R. mentioned that they were good sellers. They are probably not late as I originally thought and thus not made off site. They come in lots of colours and this is a more muted green. See P17.

This dish is very large and heavy, and again I would suspect that they were all ashtrays.

Width 250mm

Notes & comments:

Hi, I’ve just found your site whilst browsing the web to find out about some pieces of pottery my father bought whilst working for Castrol Oil Company in Marylebone, London in the 60’s & early 70’s.

The green dish is definitely from Briglin as  we have one identical to your photo....it was used for many years as an ashtray causing no damage to the glass/glaze...that’s until he gave up smoking!

Just thought I’d let you know about the dish; I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing your site...very interesting.

Regards

Jane
