Introduction

Welcome to Briglin.com. Briglin is becoming more popular with collectors and interest in this site reflects that. There is still a lot of work to be done.My camera is fixed now and I hope to add new items to the galleries. I hope you enjoy this site. Please see the bottom of this page for the revision history.

Latest News: I have started adding some of the missing items..... at last. I'll highlight the new items with - * New * in the title. about x20 items added so far. I have found out that I need a new camera. I'll make do for now. I am also thinking of adding some group pictures as the pieces look great together. I may throw in several contemporary items from other potteries alongside the Briglin items when they are relevant. Such as this picture of an 1976 Anchor Pottery Tea Pot from item C9

Raison D'ĂȘtre

I have started this site to to collect and record information about Briglin Pottery. In the process I hope to raise the profile of this neglected British C20th pottery.

I refuse to give Briglin.com a mission statement as they usually just state the obvious. However, I must mention that this is NOT an official site and I have absolutely no connection with the now closed Briglin Pottery.

There are few really good sites dedicated to mid-C20th Studio Pottery on the internet. If you come across any or if you own one then please send me an email and I will link it here. The excellent and amazing www.studiopottery.com (were the hell do they keep all that stuff!) has some great examples of Briglin. I found the site really useful and it is well worth a visit. You will learn a lot!

I myself do not claim to have such a comprehensive collection. Briglin Pottery is so varied that you can't have an example of everything. There is much still absent form my collection. I do hope to describe the great variety of items that Briglin made over the 40 odd years that they were in production. I do need your help; If you have your own collection on the internet or want to contribute articles to this site then please drop me an email and I'll be happy to link to your site. I am especially interested to know your stories if you visited the shops, worked for Briglin or have any stories about what it was like. Please email me, I would love to hear from you. With some help perhaps we can fill in some of the gaps.

I must mention Anthea Arnold and her informative book 'Briglin Pottery' published in 2002, which has been a important source of information and of great help in setting up this site. Please see my Reviews section for further details on Anthea's book.

Viewing Briglin.com

This site is designed for viewing at resolutions of 1280 x 1024 or greater. If you are running at 1024 x 768 or lower then these pages will display incorrectly and they may run off the edge of the screen and not be centered. To view them correctly you need either to adjust your display resolution, or set you browser to scale down your view to 75% (in IE this is in the bottom right corner (it will be currently set to 100%).

Internet Explored 8 - If you are using IE8 then some pages might not display properly. The solution is to use the Compatibility view button which is situated the the top of the page next to the Refresh and Stop buttons. It looks like a white rectangle torn across the middle. If you press it once it will go pale blue.

Firefox 3.6 - I have recently changed my browser to FIirefox and some of the pages do not display properly. I am working on this problem, I need to revisit every page and edit the HTML to make it more consistent.
