Briglin Pottery striped beaker

An early pattern which for the lack of any other title I will call ‘stripes’. White clay and early.

Conical shape tapering to the base, with muted decoration. Briglin starts off almost in black and white in the 50’s, the glazes are dull and it’s almost as if the colour saturation has been turned down. Items from the 70’s and 80’s are brighter and more colorful. It has an interesting base with the inscribed BRIGLIN in white clay. This one has a blemish from firing (not shown). This relates to the standard fruit bowl i have posted. These items appear in many of the early photographs in AA’s book.
